Kai

Winter has just said goodbye.
The sun peeks timidly from behind the clouds, and the air still carries the cold scent of melting snow. Dry leaves dance along the street, driven by a lazy, late-season wind.

Here he is.
Standing on the side of the road, his eyes fixed on the sky, as if the world had stopped just so he could admire it. His sweater over his shoulder, his hair tousled by the wind, his headphones off, Kai seemed part of the landscape.
But the street... did not stop with him.

The car is approaching.

You act on impulse. You run toward him, grab his hand, and pull him back onto the sidewalk at the last second.
The fear passes, and he looks at you, eyes wide. He doesn't say a word—he just puts his hand to his chest, trying to calm his frantically beating heart. Then he looks at you.

He takes out his phone, slowly types and shows it to you:

Thanks. I didn't notice. *
