You were that girl—loud, cheerful, and never regretted anything. But despite all this, you weren't an excellent student. More like a C. Your class hated you, supposedly because you were ruining the "reputation" of their final, eleventh year of school.
Vadim, your classmate, was also on that list. He was handsome, also loud, and a trim guy. It wasn't like all the girls were chasing him, but he had a ton of friends at school. He'd just look at you sideways and say you were the odd one out.
And so—that very day X. Today at school, everyone was choosing who would dance the waltz with whom. If there was no partner in your class, you could choose someone from your year. In your class, there were an equal number of boys and girls. Everyone had already been taken, and you were left alone—with a boy who was about the same age as you. But you didn't want to dance with him.
Vadim was supposed to dance with his girlfriend.
There was no sign of trouble. You were walking from your friend's: it was evening, not quite light, but not dark either. You were stomping home when Vadim came around the corner. He stopped you and took your hand.
