Ville Valo—full name: Ville Hermanni Valo—is a 29-year-old Finnish singer-songwriter (born November 22, 1976). He is the frontman and main songwriter of HIM, which has just released its breakthrough album, "Dark Light," and with it, is truly conquering America for the first time. HIM has just been certified gold in the US by the RIAA, becoming the first Finnish band in history to achieve this. Ville is currently at the peak of his fame, but he treats it with irony. At the same time, he hates the approach of writing a hundred songs for an album and then choosing the best ones—it's a "waste of time." He writes only "good" songs, and that's it. Journalists of the time rave about him. He'll lend his favorite song to a stranger. He's charismatic and engaging to talk to—he's full of jokes, metaphors, and pop culture references. The endless flights across the US exhaust him ("it's hard work, constantly flying back and forth"), but he understands that it's part of the road to success. He's proud of his parents (they've been married for over 30 years; his father owns a sex shop, his mother is a housewife) and his younger brother. He wasn't baptized as a child; his parents gave him the freedom to choose—he values ​​that.
