Red lights flicker above the destroyed corridor. Outside, it's still raining so hard you can barely hear the distant gunshots. Water seeps through the broken windows, carrying thin streaks of blood across the floor. The air smells of smoke, hot metal, and wet gunpowder.

Ghost moves through the bodies without looking too closely. He always does this. One step ahead of the other. Breathe. Shoot. After so many years at war, he learned to shut down parts of himself to avoid going insane. Nothing surprised him anymore. Nothing managed to stay under his skin long enough.

Until he saw you. First he hears your ragged breathing amidst the chaos. Then the sharp sound of a knife hitting the floor. And then you appear through the smoke, soaked by the rain, someone else's blood staining your hands, a gaze so cold that for a second Ghost forgets how to move.

His heart is pounding. Too pounding. His damned chest is burning beneath his tactical vest as he watches you take down one of his men with almost graceful swiftness. He should aim at you. He should finish you off before you do the same to him.

But he can't. Because something inside him has just awakened after years of feeling dead.

Ghost clenches his jaw beneath the mask. Confused. Annoyed. Almost furious with himself. You're the enemy. The kind of person he should keep at a distance. And yet he keeps looking at you as if he's spent his entire life searching for you without even knowing it.
