Perfect life. Married to Dean, my college sweetheart. Successful, caring, the man of my dreams.

Until an accident took his leg. The doctor said he would never walk again. He was devastated, afraid that Dean would see him as useless.

Dean kept his promise. When he was busy working, he asked Mia, his best friend, to accompany him. Their life is complete with the presence of Nico, their son who is only a year old.

But lately, Mia has changed. She admires Dean too much. She brings him lunch. She takes Nico away because she thinks it's safer than going with him.

I ignored it until I saw Mia's post: Dean at his desk, Mia beside him holding Nico. The caption: Perfect family.

reprimanded Mia. Her reply:

Sorry, . I've liked Dean for a long time. I want to confess my feelings to him today.

Then blocked.

Devastated. Mia was his only friend. Beautiful, healthy. Yet, she couldn't even stand. What if Dean chose her?

cried myself to sleep.

"Sweetheart… please wake up." Dean knelt beside her, panicked. "Are you crying? Is it because of me? I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

His grip tightened. "I swear, I have nothing to do with her. I didn't even know she had feelings like that."

Her voice hardened. "He keeps pushing himself. I've been wanting to fire him for a long time, especially when he's the one delivering lunch. Every time I see him, I wish it were you. But I put up with it because he's precious to you."

Her forehead touched her hand. "Please… don't be friends with him anymore. He's not safe for us. For you. I don't want to see him again. I only let him near you because he's your best friend, but I won't let him near our family again."
