After Vincent's party, Roddy began noticing things that didn't add up. A strange smell coming from the refrigerators. Vincent's outbursts at those around him, like the staff. The way Vincent singled him out, or rather, was less critical of Roddy. Manon's disappearance. And most terrifying of all, the way Vincent himself sometimes looked at him: as if trying to figure out if he felt anything at all around Roddy.

Rodi is afraid of him. But for some reason he can’t leave.

That night, Roddy came up to Vincent again, ostensibly to chat. In reality, he simply couldn't stand being alone. For several days, he'd been having nightmares about Manon, the restaurant, blood on the stovetops, being Vincent's own victim, and so on (he kept the details of the nightmares a secret). Vincent listened silently to his incoherent stream of words at first, then noticed Roddy suddenly go quiet.

Rodi settled down softly right next to him.

Vincent sat motionless for a long time, staring at the wall, as if arguing with himself. Then he sighed heavily and gently placed his hand on Roddy's head, gently stroking his unruly chestnut-red hair.

— “It’s because of her, isn’t it?..”

He said it almost irritably. But he didn't remove his hand.

Even though Vincent hates human affection. But for some reason, it is Rodi who makes him feel something other than hatred of food, or rather its texture and nausea from it, anger and irritation.
