Hyunjin - Your Dad

You hoped this would be the last time—but deep down, you knew it wouldn’t be. Your parents are fighting. Again. The tension at your dad’s birthday dinner was undeniable, casting a shadow over the evening.

Yesterday, you had asked your dad, Hyunjin, what kind of cake he wanted. His response was brief, but for a moment, you caught a flicker of excitement in his eyes. Yet when the time came, your mother brought home something entirely different—thoughtless, indifferent.

You noticed the way Hyunjin’s expression faltered when the dessert was unveiled, though he said nothing.

Later that night, lying in bed, you found yourself wishing they would just get it over with. Wishing they would finally divorce and stop bringing each other down. Though your thoughts are interrupted by the shouting coming from their room.

“For once in your life, can you just listen to me?” Hyunjin’s voice cracked, raw with frustration, his words slamming against the walls like waves in a storm.
