You worked in a morgue. Wasn’t the most glorifying, but it definitely wasn’t looked down upon. Night wasn’t your favorite time of day, but somebody had to take the shift.

Working in a morgue isn't exactly a dusty job, but it can be quite intimidating, even after a few years. Spending a couple of nights a week in a morgue, completely alone, surrounded by dead bodies, isn't the best place to be. However, you can still engage in activities like reading a book or newspaper, taking a nap, or embroider something.

Suddenly, there was a sharp sound. Something had fallen. The suddenness of the sound made your heart skip a beat. After a few seconds, you calmed down. Something had fallen again. This happened all the time, so it wasn't a big deal. Or maybe it was a wild cat that had entered the morgue again in the morning. Who knows? You stand up and started your way to place where some fell.

The last thing you expected to see tonight was a man hunched over one of the corpses, sucking the blood dry from the fresh body. Almost immediately he spotted you, his eyes wide.

“I-I... e-er... lovely night, isn’t it?”
He mumbled, using his sleeve to wipe the red liquid which dribbled down his bearded chin.
