Gojo and Geto

Suguru Getou had always been a brilliant student at the Magic College. While Satoru forgot key points about Lord Tengen and other details of their missions, Suguru would remember and explain them to him.[34][15] His intellect was evident in combat, always able to think one step ahead of his opponent. The older and more experienced curse master attempted to outsmart the cursed spirit manipulator and move closer, but fell into Suguru's trap.[35][26] In his duel with Toji Fushiguro, Suguru managed to momentarily catch the shaman killer off guard. He moved behind Toji, knowing he would be on guard, and nearly absorbed an inventory curse to cut Toji off from the weapons cache. However, this ultimately failed due to circumstances Suguru could not foresee, leaving him open to defeat at close range.[36][37] Soon after Suguru became a master of curses, he was able to take over the remnants of the Time Vessel Association and other like-minded religious groups.[38][7] This created a legal base for cursed people who came for exorcisms, allowing Suguru to absorb their curses or use them for money. During this time, Suguru was able to collect thousands of curses using this method.[39]

Thanks to the resources accumulated through a series of strategic moves, Suguru defeated the entire shaman community of the Magic College. The Night Parade of a Hundred Demons effectively declared war on the Magic College and lured all of its shamans to Kyoto and Shinjuku. Meanwhile, Suguru infiltrated the Magic College to confront Yuta Okkotsu directly. He knew his chances of victory were initially less than twenty percent, but he confidently calculated that by capturing Riku, he would achieve much more.[40]

Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Most of Suguru's opponents assume he will fight as a shikigami user and allow his cursed spirits to attack for him. Suguru uses this misconception about his technique to his advantage, allowing him to surprise opponents with his mastery of hand-to-hand combat. Suguru has been known to allow armed men to get close so he can strike them with fists, open palms, and vicious slashes capable of knocking out teeth and leaving opponents in a bloody heap.[31][26]

Panda, as a Cursed Corpse who excels in close combat, was even able to best Suguru in a brief exchange of purely physical strikes.[32] Armed with Playful Cloud, Suguru simultaneously engaged in close combat with Yuta and a fully manifested Rika. He was able to parry Yuta's sword strikes and Rika's physical strikes simultaneously, masterfully restraining both.[33]

Overall Skill Level: Suguru Geto was one of the four Special Rank shamans and was considered the worst of all curse masters due to the level of danger he posed to humanity.[24]

During their student years, Suguru and Satoru were considered the "strongest."[16] Suguru was able to easily deal with experienced curse masters.[25][26] His collection of cursed spirits was extensive and featured a wide variety of different abilities and roles in combat. Suguru was not overly reliant on his curses and was a highly capable close-combat fighter.[27][26] During his time as a curse master, Suguru used his religious group as bait to gather thousands of cursed spirits. Within ten years, Suguru had become a greater threat to humanity than any curse of his time. With thousands of curses and several curse masters at his side, Suguru had enough power to declare war on the Magic College, the cornerstone of the shaman world.[28]

Suguru understood that despite all his resources, he had little chance of defeating all the shamans of the Magic College. His tactical acumen allowed him to deceive them and isolate Yuta Okkotsu within the college itself. The true goal of the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons was to kill Yuta and steal the Special-Rank Vengeful Spirit Riku Orimoto from him.[29] Had his curses not been divided between Kyoto and Shinjuku, it is believed that Suguru would have succeeded.[30][1]

When Yuki asked Suguru if he hated non-shamans, he couldn't answer. He replied that he once believed protecting non-shamans was right, but then began to doubt whether they were worth fighting for. Suguru, unable to distinguish the value from the ugliness of the weak, compared being a shaman to running a marathon, where the finish line is too unclear. She advised him to choose between the side of him that dedicated himself to being a shaman and the side that looked down on non-shamans.[21][7]

After the death of young Yuu Haibara, Suguru's enthusiastic kouhai, the insecure young shaman came to believe that being a shaman was like running a marathon, with the end result being nothing more than a mountain made up of the corpses of his fellow shamans. During the mission that followed this incident, Suguru discovers two little girls being mistreated by non-shamans for possessing cursed abilities.

At that moment, Suguru made his final decision. He saved the two girls and killed all one hundred and twelve villagers, officially becoming a curse master and abandoning his Magic College badge.[22][7] Suguru chose his true side, deciding that he hated monkeys and would fight for a world inhabited only by shamans.[23][7]

Suguru tried to maintain his ideology, but as time went on, his path became increasingly unclear. Satoru became the strongest on his own, and Suguru began to go on more dangerous missions alone. He felt trapped in an endless cycle of exile and consumption. Eventually, he began to question who he was doing these heinous acts for, and remembered the non-shamans of the Star Religious Group. That day, he saw the heinous evil and still chose to protect them, a decision he later regretted, calling them "monkeys" for the first time.[20][7]

Yuki Tsukumo told Suguru during a conversation that non-shamans were the main cause of curses. The cursed energy flowed from them much more freely than from normal shamans. Yuki wanted to either eradicate the cursed energy from all of humanity or teach everyone to control it. This made Suguru come up with a third solution: kill all non-shamans.

In the end, Suguru used his final moments to tell Satoru that he simply couldn't be happy in this world, no matter what, thinking about their time at the Magic College. Suguru even said that Satoru should have cursed him in the end, but there was still a connection between them after everything that happened.[13]

As a student at the Magic College alongside his best friend Satoru, Suguru initially believed that shamans existed to protect non-shamans. Satoru argued that Suguru should not boast about his righteousness, and that applying reason to magic was foolish. Their clashing ideologies caused them to argue and butt heads as young men.[14][15] Back then, Suguru was a much kinder and more decent young man, especially compared to Satoru. He understood the importance of manners and proper behavior for a shaman. In his opinion, Satoru acted too rudely.[16][15] Despite their occasional disagreements, Suguru and Satoru remained the best of friends. They encouraged each other to be their strongest selves and were confident that they could achieve anything as long as they had each other.[17][18]

However, after Riko Amanai's death, everything began to change. The followers of the Star Religious Group applauded her death, and this sad act did not leave Suguru. He decided not to kill them, because shamans must have a reason for killing.[19][7]

After defeating Yuta's classmates, Suguru cried and expressed the joy he felt at seeing the young shamans working together to protect each other. With a manic grin, Suguru cried out and stated that this was the world he dreamed of. Geto claimed that he did not want to kill Yuta, but he had no choice for the future of his vision.[10]

While fighting Yuta, Suguru explained how foolish he thought it was for humans to create the concept of gods when shamans already existed.[11] He believed that monkeys were unwilling to acknowledge the existence of higher physical beings, and was disgusted by their pompous existence.[12] Afterwards, Satoru met with his former best friend and admitted that he trusted Suguru enough not to kill the potential of young shamans.

Suguru Geto hated non-shamans, commonly calling them "monkeys." He believed that shamans were a superior race and the next stage of human evolution. He was smug and extremely condescending toward ordinary people, using false identities to lure in vulnerable people who had been cursed. Suguru found non-shamans so disgusting that he sprayed himself to disinfect his own "monkey stench." He believed that monkeys had only two roles associated with him: money-collecting monkeys and curse-collecting monkeys. If they failed to fulfill their roles, Suguru happily allowed the curses to kill them without remorse.[8] After defeating Yuta's classmates, Suguru cried and expressed the joy he felt at seeing the young shamans working together to protect each other. With a mad grin, Suguru cried out and declared that this was the world he had dreamed of. Geto claimed he hadn't wanted to kill Yuta, but he had no choice in the future of his vision.[10]

Suguru is a tall, slender man with long black hair, partly tied behind his head, with the rest flowing down his back. He has small purple (light brown in the anime) eyes and bangs that sometimes cover his left eye. His earlobes have fairly large tunnels stretched out in them, with large round stones (purple in color).

In 2006, Suguru's hair was much shorter as a student. Most of his hair was tied up, but his bangs were still visible. After August 2007, when Suguru became a curse master, his hair began to grow and became the length it is in 2017.

As a student, Suguru wore the standard uniform of the Magic College. When disguised as a Buddhist monk, Suguru dons the appropriate attire. Over a black yukata robe, he wears a gold-colored kashaya robe. His monk's attire is completed with white tabi socks and zori sandals.

Despite rarely being put into dangerous situations, Satoru has proven that he can be incredibly resilient when needed. When Toji Fushiguro stabbed him in the chest after he had just deactivated his Infinity, Satoru felt almost no pain, and thanks to the cursed energy boost, he was able to avoid further damage. Even after Satoru was stabbed in the throat and then brutally cut up, he not only survived, but was able to instead use the experience of life and death to understand the nature of the Reverse Cursed Technique and become even more powerful than ever. Years later, when Sukuna's Demon Tomb overpowered his Vast Abyss, Satoru endured countless slashing attacks from Sukuna while using the Reverse Cursed Technique at full power to instantly heal himself without showing any signs of pain, suffering no blood loss or injury, and was able to continue fighting Sukuna with great efficiency, eventually buying himself enough time to restore his cursed technique.

Satoru possesses extraordinary physical strength, allowing him to easily combat powerful curses, easily inflicting severe injuries on Jogo with powerful blows and sending him flying a considerable distance with a single kick during their battle. He was also able to easily rip off Jogo's head and then his arm with sheer force, and even managed to casually rip out Hanami's roots. He could tear apart transformed people, ripping off their limbs. He easily incapacitated Uraume with a single blow, inflicting such damage that even the use of the Reverse Curse Technique couldn't truly heal, leaving Sukuna's powerful subordinate still suffering some pain from the lingering wound. During his fight with Sukuna, the collision between them destroyed entire buildings, and Satoru proved powerful enough to inflict serious damage on the Curse King using martial arts alone, something even Yuji and Maki were unable to achieve. With just one Black Lightning, Satoru was able to inflict heavy damage on Sukuna, temporarily knocking him unconscious after striking him in the heart. Two blows from Satoru were enough to temporarily stun Mahoraga. Satoru is an extremely fast fighter, capable of moving faster than the eye can perceive. He was able to easily outpace Jogo, delivering almost imperceptible punches and kicks. Satoru was even able to successfully react to and dodge attacks from a man of Toji Fushiguro's caliber. Satoru can also destroy a thousand transformed people in five minutes. He was able to move faster than Uraume, a powerful and experienced mage, and would have quickly killed Kenjaku if Sukuna hadn't intervened. During Satoru's fight with Sukuna, he showed himself to be on par with the Curse King even without using the acceleration technique, constantly maintaining parity during hand-to-hand combat while Sukuna used the territory stretching to stop Mahoraga's adaptation, removing the restrictions on the emission of PE.

Satoru, in addition to his vast reserves of cursed energy, is also an extremely formidable martial artist in close combat, possessing extraordinary physical strength to back up his skills. A Q&A with Gege Akutami revealed that Satoru is as skilled in hand-to-hand combat as the thousand-year-old Kenjaku, without the use of any cursed energy. He was capable of completely overpowering Jogo in hand-to-hand combat, landing several precise strikes to Jogo's lethal points, and could even casually fend off and overpower both Jogo and Hanami in close combat, easily parrying their attacks and countering with powerful blows. In his duel with Sukuna, Satoru proved his superiority in hand-to-hand combat against the incredibly powerful Curse King, who had previously demonstrated impeccable martial arts skills, simultaneously holding off both Yuji and Maki. He was subsequently able to crush Sukuna in their later clash. During their clash, he inflicted fatal wounds that caused the Demon Tomb to collapse within three minutes.

The higher-ups of the mage society feared Satoru's power, as he could easily force them to cancel the executions of such dangerous individuals as the special-rank mage Yuta Okkotsu and Sukuna's vessel, Yuji Itadori. Satoru himself claims it would be easy for him to kill them all and overthrow the mage society if he truly desired it. Satoru even claimed he could defeat Sukuna with his full power.

Kenjaku and his group of Special-Class Cursed Spirits also feared Satoru's strength and prowess, and Kenjaku admitted he couldn't defeat Gojo in a direct confrontation. He was capable of completely overwhelming and killing Jogo, the strongest of the group, and was able to force Hanami to retreat with his mere presence, while Gojo nearly killed the Special-Class Cursed Spirit with a single attack. When Kenjaku and his group finally devised a plan to meet him in combat, despite their preparation, Satoru was still able to easily repel their attacks and defeat them, leaving them amazed at how superior his capabilities truly were, killing Hanami and suffering defeat only because Kenjaku used his past ties to Getou to distract Satoru and hold out long enough for the Prison Kingdom to seal him away.

As he continued to grow, he surpassed Suguru in power, so much so that Suguru admitted that Satoru had truly become the strongest. Suguru also claimed that Satoru was capable of killing all of humanity single-handedly, something Suguru admitted he himself was unable to do, and didn't even try to resist when Satoru prepared to kill him. Satoru ultimately retreated, unable to kill his best friend. The higher-ups of the mage society feared Satoru's power, as he could easily force them to cancel the executions of dangerous individuals such as the special-rank mage Yuta Okkotsu and Sukuna's vessel, Yuji Itadori. His fighting style is characterized by aggressive and forceful attacks, while simultaneously demonstrating his refined techniques to his opponents. Furthermore, in a critical situation, he is capable of maintaining a cool head. He prioritizes the destruction of his enemies over saving innocents when he believes casualties are inevitable. However, this only applies to people killed by his opponent; he will not cause any lasting harm or kill anyone innocent to achieve victory.

Yet, despite his arrogance and strength, Satoru is more human than he initially appears. After defeating Toji, Satoru mournfully picked up Riko's corpse, revealing that while his recent vain victory had temporarily clouded his feelings, he still felt some grief over her death. He wanted to kill the members of the religious group Star, who were rejoicing over Riko's death, but was stopped by Suguru Getou, whom he relied on for moral guidance at the time, before taking any action. Furthermore, Satoru was later horrified and panicked to learn that Suguru, his only true friend, had begun killing non-benders. Satoru attempted to reason with his friend, but ultimately came to terms with the fact that he had lost the only person he truly considered his equal. After Satoru was forced to end Suguru's life before further disasters could strike, it was the trauma of losing his best friend that led to his final downfall in Shibuya. He was also devastated when Yuji apparently died.

Satoru's ultimate goal is to reform the mage world from the bottom up through education. He strives to raise a new generation of mages who, he hopes, will one day be his equal.

Satoru is extremely confident in his abilities and reputation as a powerful mage, believing himself to be invincible. His opinions of others are often limited to their strength, and he is rather indifferent to anyone he considers weak. Furthermore, greatly influenced by his own strength, he is extremely arrogant. He is convinced that he is the strongest in the world, and technically he is, declaring during his fight with Toji Fushiguro, "In heaven and on earth, only I am worthy." This was further illustrated when he was tasked with protecting Riko Amanai, one of the few "weak" people he genuinely sympathized with. Any sympathy for her death was soon negated by his immense pride and arrogance after he perfected his Reverse Curse Technique in his subsequent fight against Toji Fushiguro.

One of the main characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. The pride of the Gojo Family, he is the first person in four hundred years to inherit both Limitless and the Six Eyes. He works as a teacher at the Tokyo Magic School and uses his influence to protect and train powerful young allies. Satoru Gojo is a tall, attractive man with spiky white hair. His light blue eyes are usually covered with glasses or an eyepatch. He has a slightly muscular build.

He almost always wears a black blindfold and a dark school uniform: a long-collared jacket, long black pants, and black shoes. The blindfold makes his hair stand up straight.

In casual settings and outside of work, he prefers to wear dark round sunglasses and a dark long-sleeved shirt, and lets his hair grow out from under his headband.

In Volume 0 of the Magical Battle, Satoru's eyes are hidden by white bandages.

Gojo can't cook, drive any vehicle, and he loves sweets.
