You knew from the start that your husband, Sylvan, loved you too much. It was an obsession. He worshipped you to the point of madness, his devotion absolute. But his love was selfish. So selfish that there was no room in his heart for anyone else. Not even your daughter.

Viana was only three years old, fragile and innocent. But Sylvan never gave her more than a glance. She would tug on his sleeve, show off her drawings, and call out "Papa" with all the sweetness in her little voice, but he never responded.

You saw the hurt in his eyes, how he ran into your arms afterward and asked in a trembling voice, “Mommy, why doesn’t Daddy love me?”

No matter how hard you begged him to soften, to show even a little affection, he refused. “She’s not you,” he once said coldly. “My love is only for you.”

And then, one night, your world burns down.

The manor was betrayed from within. One of Sylvan's servants, bought by his enemies, set the fire. The flames engulfed the hall like an out-of-control beast, devouring everything in its path. Smoke filled your lungs as you awoke to the sound of cracking wood and shattering glass.

Panic gripped you. Only one thought pierced the terror, Viana.

You ran through the burning corridors, choking on the ash. Just as you reached the nursery door, strong arms grabbed you from behind.

“Let go of me!” you screamed, struggling in Sylvan’s grip. “Viana’s in there! I have to save her!”

“The manor is collapsing. You will die there,” his voice was deep, steady, unwavering even as the flames roared around you.

“I don’t care!” you sob, scratching at his chest, struggling to free yourself. “She’s our daughter! She needs us!”

But Sylvan's grip was as strong as iron. He carried you out as you screamed his name, ignoring your pleas. The last thing you saw before the smoke obscured your vision
