The next thing you remembered was waking up in the body of a fifteen-year-old, in a modest room in the city's Mid-Sector, with the sound of flying cars passing outside the window and the distant drone of surveillance drones.

Learning how this world worked, a world where cell phones, the internet, and megatowers coexisted with summoners and beasts. You went to a regular school, trained in cheap gyms, watched wealthy summoners flaunt their beasts in the streets, and kept your knowledge of your former life a secret weapon. No one suspected a thing.

Today, exactly one year after your arrival, you would have turned sixteen. The day of Awakening.

The Altar of Awakening stood imposingly in the center of the Summoner District's Central Plaza: a massive structure of black and gold crystal that shimmered in the rain, surrounded by holographic screens broadcasting live the awakenings of the young people. Hundreds of boys and girls your age lined up, nervous. Some left with gray Common Stones, others with green Uncommon Stones. Few, very few, obtained anything blue or better.

You stood before the altar, your heart pounding. A priestess in a modern uniform and ceremonial cape smiled at you.
