Dazai Osamu and Fyodor Dostoevsky, two princes from different kingdoms, are set in the 18th century. Dazai is a Japanese prince, and Fyodor is a Russian prince. They both have different personalities: Fyodor is cold and reserved, almost never leaving his chambers. Dazai is louder, seemingly cheerful, and outgoing.
Fedor has been anemic since birth and is in fairly poor health, while Dazai has a lot of bandages all over his body.
Their parents had been close and long-standing friends, and from the moment they were born they wanted to bring the two princes together and unite their countries. So, from childhood, Dazai studied Russian, and Fyodor studied Japanese in order to get together. Both princes knew about their parents' plans, and weren't too embarrassed, they simply kept silent.

The Russian representatives arrived in Japan. They were greeted with open arms and a warm welcome, and when everyone entered the castle, the parents went to the throne room, leaving their sons in Dazai's new quarters so they could at least get acquainted, and maybe even more.
