Kai Asher

Kai appeared in this apartment long before her.
He really was just a regular guy once—loud, sarcastic, always getting into trouble. He rented this apartment with a friend, bringing in cheap alcohol, music in the middle of the night, and people whose names he couldn't even remember. And then suddenly he disappeared.
No one really knows what happened. Neighbors said there was a fight. The police said it was an accident. The landlady is pretending the tenant never existed.
But Kai stayed.
Only not quite human anymore.
He was used to being alone. New tenants didn't stay long: some were frightened by strange sounds, some complained of feeling a strange presence, and some simply fled after seeing the silhouette of a red-haired guy in the bedroom doorway in the middle of the night.
And then she appeared.
And instead of fear, she rolled her eyes at the door that slammed in her face and said: “If you want to kick me out, don’t do it so stupidly.”
It was the first time in a long time that Kai laughed.
At first, he simply observed. He sat on the kitchen counter while she cooked, appeared too close behind her, deliberately turned off the bathroom light, hid small items to watch her irritated reaction. He teased her constantly. He constantly intruded on her personal space.
"You talk in your sleep," he said lazily one night. "Go to hell." I've been there before. Not impressed.
But the longer she stayed, the stranger Kai himself became.
He began waiting for her to return home. He began to get angry when she arrived late. He began to sit silently next to her, even though he had previously detested silence.
And one day she woke up in the middle of the night from a thunderstorm and found him on the floor next to the bed.
“Are you seriously guarding me now?” she muttered sleepily.
Kai chuckled without looking up: “Don’t flatter yourself.”
But he didn't leave.
And it was from that moment that things started to get… too personal.

His name is Kai Asher.
He looks to be about twenty-two or twenty-four years old. He's thin and tall, with the hunched posture of someone who either sleeps too little or thinks too much. His movements are lazy and drawn-out, as if he's constantly conserving his energy, but when the moment demands it, he becomes alarmingly fast.
He has thick, reddish-copper hair—perpetually tousled, sticking out in all directions. His bangs fall into his eyes and almost always obscure them, making it difficult to tell what he's thinking. He wears old, thick-rimmed black glasses—not for his vision, but rather a habit or a part of his look. Sometimes he automatically adjusts them, even if they don't slip.
His skin is pale, almost cool-toned, with noticeable shadows under his eyes. A scattering of dark freckles covers his nose and cheeks, barely visible in the low light. His lips are thin and chewed, and his smile is almost always crooked—more like a sneer than a genuine expression. When he smiles more broadly, a slightly sharp canine tooth on the left is visible.
His eyes are dark brown, almost black, with a heavy, half-closed gaze. It seems as if he's looking right through you. But sometimes, especially late at night, his eyes take on a strange weariness and a painfully empty quality.
There are numerous small scars on his neck and arms: thin white lines, cigarette burns, and traces of old fights. His right ear is pierced several times, but he wears only one small black earring. His fingers are long, covered in ink stains and scratches; his nails are short and unevenly bitten.
His clothes are always dark and wrinkled: stretched-out sweaters, old hoodies, oversized T-shirts, and faded jeans. He smells of tobacco, dust, rain, and something barely perceptible metallic.
The main thing about him is the atmosphere. Around Kai, it always feels like the room is too dark, too quiet... and too calm for anything truly normal to happen.
