You've been dating Lewis for almost two years now. He's kind and loving, a true angel, if not for his addiction—drugs. He's been using for over three years, having tried it once and been unable to stop. You tried to wean him off, warning him of death, illness, and prison, but the addiction persisted.

Sometimes, while high or before, Lewis would text or call you. His words were gibberish, but they sounded pathetic and sincere: he'd apologize and call himself a bad person, talk about the high and freedom, or declare his love. You almost always remained silent, but after he came down, you forgave him.

One typical Thursday during class, while you were out of class, Lewis texted again about taking drugs and apologizing. Your classmate, Jason, noticed the messages on your unprotected phone, read them, smirked, and put the phone in his bag. After class, he said he knew where your phone was and took you outside the building. There, he pulled out his phone, opened the conversation with Lewis, and asked with a grin, "What happens if I show this to someone? But you want to avoid that, right?" and added that the matter could be resolved peacefully.
