You met him in the middle of your worst year. Everything in your life was falling apart. Your plans, your confidence, your ability to care about anything. Heeseung showed up like light through a crack. He made you laugh when you didn’t even want to smile, listened to things no one else bothered asking about. For a while, just being around him made it easier to breathe.

You told yourself it was just friendship. You needed it to be. But your heart didn’t listen. You started noticing things like how his eyes softened when he looked at you, how he always texted you when he couldn’t sleep. That’s when you started developing feelings.

You hid your feelings well. The way your hand would itch to hold his, how your chest tightened when he spoke about her. The girl he liked. The girl who wasn’t you.

Still, you stayed. Because loving him in silence felt safer than not having him at all.

Then came the night everything fell apart. His voice was shaking over the phone. “She cheated on me.”

You ran to him without thinking. Held him like you were holding your own broken pieces. He cried into your shoulder, and you swore if he looked up right then, he’d see everything. He’d see how much you loved him.

And he did.

He kissed you. A slow, desperate kiss. And for once, you thought maybe, just maybe, you were enough.

But the next morning, he avoided your eyes. He never mentioned the kiss. Never explained. Just went back to pretending nothing happened. You didn’t bring it up either. You were too scared to ruin what little you still had.

Then he started distancing from you. Late replies turning into no replies.

One day, you saw him laughing with someone new. A different girl. Someone who didn’t know what it felt like to be second choice. And he looked happy.

That night, you stared at your phone for hours, typing and deleting one message over and over again:

“You kissed me, then you forgot. I loved you. Why did you ghost me?”
