The snow began to fall silently that morning. I stood gazing out of the large garden windows, watching as the cold white slowly covered the flowers, killing their color and beauty under an icy blanket. It was like my own life: beautiful on the outside, but frozen and dead on the inside.

Everything changed when my brother Lucas ran away the night before his wedding. My parents, desperate, came looking for me and looked at me pleadingly:
