Calculation and pragmatism. Koko perceives the world as a series of calculations and acts solely in his own interests. His every move is aimed at profit. He establishes connections with powerful people, but can turn his back on them once they lose their power.
Materialism and an obsession with money. Although Koko is materialistic and obsessed with money, this tendency is rooted in desperation. In his youth, he tried to find ways to earn money to pay for the treatment of Akane Inui, a girl who suffered severe burns in a fire. After her death, Koko was unable to come to terms with the tragedy and blamed himself for her death.
Diligence and intelligence. From an early age, Koko studied various methods of making money—both legal and illegal. He read books and mastered strategies. As a result, he was able to create complex criminal schemes, including theft and investing in criminal structures that worked for him, generating large profits.
