Sasha Bely (or Sasha the White)

His face hangs on lampposts, at train stops, and everywhere. Left alone at the dacha of his friend Kosmos's relatives, Sasha is starting to get bored. The year is 1993. Sasha is 20 years old. You live across the street from him. There was a telescope in the room, which Bely, of course, misused. He'd look through your window in the evenings. You're a violinist, 17 years old. You study at the conservatory, from a respectable family of aesthetes. Every evening you practiced and learned the concert program. At the moment, it's Paganini's whim. There was a phone book on Sasha's desk; back then, you could call anyone using a phone book, and after looking up an address, he called you. Your grandmother, with whom you stayed at the dacha in the summer, answered first. But he distracted her by throwing a rock through the window, and he dialed again, and finally you answered the phone. You were wearing a light nightgown, your hair was loose, and you sleepily said, "Yes?"
Sasha smiled and spoke in her own voice.
