Once a student has changed their name, they are stuck with the same name for a minimum of two years. Some examples include Eternal Feather and Soul Eater.[35]Headmaster The leader of the overall organization and holding a role in it's faculty functions, the headmaster holds functions in it's paramilitary operations as the overarching head.[36] They're also the sole authority in granting execution orders to witches.[28] Uniquely, this position in Death Weapon Meister Academy can only be held by a grim reaper.[37]Death Scythe Death Scythes serve as one of the two roles acting as direct subordinates to the headmaster, overseeing specific global branches while also providing instruction, military leadership, and carrying out special missions. Only demon weapons graduates who have consumed 99 evil human souls and one witch soul in the academy can hold this official rank.[38]Reaper's aide A high ranking position given formally and informally to those also serving as direct subordinates to the headmaster.[39] While having functions in it's school system, in paramilitary operations, they often take commanding responsibilities.[40] Both death scythes and elite meisters can hold this position.[39]Elite meister A high-ranking meister position.[41] Elite meisters can take on leading roles in paramilitary operations, serve as organizational heads, spcialized agents, and also can serve in the organzation's schooling capacity.[14]Assassin Followers of the of the way of assassination whom specializes in killing targets of note.[42]Executioner A official of Death Weapon Meister Academy who kills people sentenced to death.[43Engineer A person who designs, builds, or maintains machines, structures, and systems. In Death Weapon Meister Academy, engineers also utilize and/or build demon tools.[44

Death City has various part-time job shifts available for students, especially those who have spent all their weekly allowances from the DWMA. Jobs offered to the DWMA students are paid by the day due to the high job demand of penniless students seeking employment. Students seeking part-time work must submit an employment form to the DWMA.[31]

Jobs include waitress at Deathbucks Café, delivery at Death Shipping, cleaning the city's community pool, and working at other positions at Death Records, Restaurant Munehisa, and drugstores.[32]The DWMA is a academy in which has no set uniform. However, there are a variety of preset uniforms one can choose from, and one can match any top with any bottom. While a student within the academy can select the uniforms and switch around match to their liking, they're also allowed to wear their own clothes.[33]In addition, the DWMA is a rather special school in that students may actually change their names upon entering into a stage name. In other situations, ordinary ranking is dependent on title and affiliated organization, therefore varying. Such titles include Captain, Generals, Chief, etc. It can be assumed these rankings are attained based on experience and capability.[46] Finally, special designations are also in place, granting various privileges to those who hold it.[41]

Death Weapon Meister Academy serves a multitude of purposes; one of the school's main purposes is to ensure the prevention of another kishin,[19] maintain world order,[20] and upholds a responsibility of teaching demon weapons how to control their powers as a preventative measure from weapon abilities hurting others, helping them to potentially intergrate into society seemlessly.[21] In administration, the school is led by a headmaster and is supported through it's faculty members.[1]Death Weapon Meister Academy has an age requirement for joining, although the specifics age is not known.[22] The academy, thus far, has enrolled individuals as young as 12 years old.[23]In the academy, there are two general advancement curriculum that decide the purpose of both the student body and teachers present in the schoolNormally Overcome Target Class (オーバーノーマルー•オーバーカム•ターゲット•クラス, Ōbānōmarū• Ōbākamu• Tāgetto• Kurasu): : The curriculum for non-combatants teachers and students. Ninety percent of the students in the DWMA make up and follow this curriculum.[24] Especially Advantaged Talent Class: The curriculum that involves the students and teachers to use their power to fight against evil. The last 10% of the student body make up and follow this curriculum.[25]As a academy, the school offers both general education and special classes in which said goals are to fortify student in mind, body, and soul (per the school motto). Along the general education subjects (i.e physical education), the core special subjects taught within the school includes: soul studies, literacy arts, and duel arts.[14] In addition, extracurricular classes exists and are given to students based upon their abilities: some examples includes the Extracurricular Lesson Solicitation Committee and the DWMA Central Intelligence Agency (the latter exclusive to the EAT Class).[14] These classes are considered electives in the

Death Weapon Meister Academy (死神武器職人専門学校, Shinigami Buki Shokunin Senmon Gakkō) is a school and organization founded by Death to train meisters and demon weapons, maintain world order, and prevent the uprising of another Kishin.[10][11]Around 800 years ago, following the defection of former warlord Asura and becoming a kishin, Death conftonted and defeated his former legion member. Faced with a dilemma regarding containing his madness, he opted to skin him alive and seal him and his withered body made of his skin, being the only thing capable of housing his madness, before binding his soul to the land to suppress the kishin. Not long after, he founded Death Weapon Meister Academy on April 2nd in order to become a deterrent against the creation of a kishin and to protect world order in his place, now unable travel beyond the bound of his soul. The land around him eventually became Death City.[12] He also assembed various ranked death scythes, whom served as the spiritual successors of the Eight Reaper Legions.[13]

Throughout it's history, the academy battled various witches and the Witch Order; as they devised new spells against them, meisters and weapons developed countermeasures such as the soul perception in response to soul protect.[12] Other efforts includes founding their own central intelligence agency dedicated to developing countermeasures against hostile witches and their actions throughout the centuries, including record keeping due to their long-lived nature compared to humanity.[14] The academy also battled werewolves of the Immortal clan when they broke DWMA's established rules and threaten human lives, either being killed or taken into custory when their numbers dwindled.[15]

In the early 20th century, the academy became involved with World War I and in it's aftermath, Japan's close relation with the DWMA lead to the mandate that a pre-requisite for a Prime Minister includes graduation from Death Weapon Meister Academy.[16]

Patty adores her older sister and thinks she knows everything. Though she may be the more serious out of the sisters, she is shown to be a coward in certain missions and is highly afraid of paranormal stuff (especially ghosts), when she met a ghost that was trying to help her, she still believes that any ghosts that she meets will eat her, which highly irritates the ghost.Patricia "Patty" Thompson is a character in Soul Eater and the younger sister of Liz Thompson. They are the weapon partners of Death the Kid. Before meeting Death the Kid, she was a criminal along with her sister in Brooklyn, New York that they were nicknamed "The Brooklyn Devils".Patty is 'physically' older than Kid, Black☆Star, Soul, and Maka. She has chin-length, bright yellow (blonde) hair with bangs, light blue eyes and she has bigger breasts than her sister even though her sister is older and taller (a difference in body structure that causes no end of frustration to their meister, Kid, as it makes them asymmetrical in human form).In their initial appearances in the manga, both Thompson sisters wear cowgirl outfits: a tight, red, sleeveless, turtleneck belly shirt with a white tie, cowboy hat and black, high-heel boots. However, unlike Liz, Patty wears puffy shorts. There is also a subtle difference in her hat. Liz's hat has rims that slant forwards, whereas Patty's hat has rims that are in a perfect curve. Later on in the anime, both sisters wear white jackets over their outfits. Upon their transition into Spartoi, Patty usually retains a hat while Liz does not.Patty is mostly seen speaking in a sing-song voice, as she often says '♪' after her main speech. She acts and speaks like a young child. She pronounces words like "hello" and "sorry", as a child would "hullo" and "sowwy". She seems to still be learning about simple things such as assigning animal noises to the right animal. In fact, Patty is just learning to assign the right name to the right animal.

Elizabeth Thompson, commonly known as Liz, is one of the main protagonists in the anime/manga Soul Eater and is the older sister of Patricia Thompson. They are currently weapon partners with Lord Death's son, Death the Kid. They used to be professional criminals in the streets of Brooklyn, New York that they were nicknamed the Brooklyn Devils. When coming across Death the Kid, their lives became much better and has stable live off the streets.Liz is a young tall teenage girl who is around Tsubaki's age. She has long dark blonde hair that reaches to her mid-back, with dark blue eyes. When Death the Kid noticed the Thompson's had different breast sizes, hers seems to be more smaller than her younger sister, which annoys her since she's older and taller. Just like her sister, she wears a cowgirl outfit, wearing tight sleeveless red turtleneck crop top that exposes her stomach area with a white tie, dark blue jeans, two silver bracelets on the on both of her wrist, black high heel boots, and most importantly, the white and blue cowboy hat, that is slightly different to Patty's. Liz's hat is not round like Patty's but instead her rims is more slant forward. Throughout the series, the sisters wear a white cropped jacket over their outfits.Unlike her younger sister Patty, who acts more child-like and naive, she is the more serious sister who is shown to be moody, cool-headed, stereotypical teenager who often worries about things like makeup, nails, looks, and shopping. She is also more mature and smarter compared to the sister Patty, and seems to be annoyed about Kid's symmetry obsession unlike Patty who finds it to be funny.Patty adores her older sister and thinks she knows everything.

Death the Kid is the tritagonist in the anime/manga series Soul Eater. He is the youngest son of Lord Death and the younger brother of Asura, who suffers from OCD (Obsessive Compulsion Disorder) for Symmetry which is actually from his father being the madness embodiment of Law and OrderDeath the Kid appeared as a thin, teenaged young man who is a bit shorter then Liz and Patty and reaches only up a little past the latter's shoulder, possess eyes with two shades of yellow ringing around his pupil. The outside ring is a bright yellow while the inner ring is a dark yellow, similar to the color of gold. He typically sports a standard black suit with white rectangles. The rectangles are placed in a manner that is completely symmetrical. There are at least six small rectangles along the seam where the sleeves attach to the jacket, and four small rectangles run along the front of his jacket. His undershirt is a formal white dress shirt, and a metallic skull rests under his collar, and could be used as a tie. His color scheme is meant to copy his father's. He also sports black hair with white stripes along the left side of his hairline.Kid suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCPD, which is manifested as an obsession over symmetry, otherwise known as asymmetriphobia. Objects and surroundings that are symmetrical can distract him from missions, and will usually start to break down and have fits if he notices asymmetrical objects around him. Thus if anything is wrong by any measurement (a picture frame crooked, or not folding his toilet paper, for example), he will try to correct it right away, even at the expense of the mission at hand. Expert Meister: Kid is shown to be very skilled Meister capable to use two Weapons at once with ease. As stated by Maka achieving harmony between three souls at once is not easy thing. Best proof of this ability is number of different Soul Resonance techniques that Kid and Thompson sisters are capable to perform.

Tsubaki Nakatsukasa is one of the main protagonists in the anime/manga series Soul Eater and is Black☆Star's weapon partner. Tsubaki is loyal to her partner despite his incompetence, and allows herself to be dragged into his antics, even encouraging him when she would know better and be more reasonable otherwise. Despite her willingness to participate in Black☆Star's foolhardy endeavors, Tsubaki is well aware of his foolishness, and will apologize on his behalf when he causes too much trouble. For these reasons, she can be seen as a foil for Black☆Star.Tsubaki is a tall, attractive and rather well-endowed girl of Japanese descent of around sixteen or seventeen years old. She wears a pale yellow, sleeveless outfit with a skirt end that has a slit down the side with a bright yellow star emblazoned on the right side of the chest. She also wears a dark brown scarf and a tight dark brown stocking on her right leg starting just above the knee and white boots. She wears a sash that looks similar to Black☆Star's grey riveted straps that wraps around her waist twice and hangs down diagonally from right to left. She has long black hair tied up in a ponytail and large indigo eyes. Occasionally, like when she is bathing or playing basketball, her ponytail and the strands of hair at the side of her face are tied up into 'loops.' Upon using the Uncanny Sword, her hair is loose, with tattoos that are the same pattern as Black☆Star's. She wears grey and black bandages on her arms from the shoulder down, and wears a sweatband with a star symbol on it on each of her wrists.As one of the oldest of the main cast of characters, Tsubaki is one of the most mature characters, along with Maka. However, she is not as short-tempered as the Scythe Meister, and is very patient and forgiving. She, like Maka, demonstrates a much more practical and level headed personality than most of the other characters. She has a very magnanimous, polite and gentle personality and always tries to help.

Black☆Star is the deuteragonist in the anime/manga series Soul Eater. He is a ninja from the destroyed Star Clan who thrives to surpass the gods. His weapon partner is Tsubaki Nakatsukasa.Black☆Star appears as a teenage, young man with bright, blue spiky hair with the spikes sticking in out in the manner similar to that of a star. He's also somewhat short, being shorter than his weapon partner Tsubaki Nakatsukasa. He's also well built for his age. He has green eyes and when under the effect of Madness or angered, his eyes adopt blue stars within them.

His main outfit consists of a sleeveless black shirt with a funnel-like collar, with white trousers that are black from the knee down and just a little short of being full length jeans. On the front of his collar, two short strips of grey material adorned with rivets stretch down from the top of the collar to the breast of his shirt. His arrogance stems from the fact that he seems to exhibit a superiority complex. His delusion of 'starness', as he calls it, is so great that he constantly gives out autographs that nobody wants, including when he signs Maka's forehead when she is recovering from a recent battle. According to Stein, Black☆Star's soul is 'a terribly self-absorbed soul.' His catchphrase is 'I will be the man who will surpass God,' which he is actually trying to do according to Stein. Because of this, he shows tacit jealousy towards Death the Kid, who is revered as an actual god. When referring to himself, Black☆Star uses an honorific which shows he holds himself with high regard. He constantly refers to himself as 'BIG' and the other people around him as 'small.'Martial Arts Proficiency (武道, Budō): A competent martial artist, Maka Albarn once stated that Black☆Star specialized in performing martial arts while Sid considered him to be a "true child of the martial way". This enables him to shift through various armed and unarmed martial styles depending on a given situation without thought.

~ Soul Evans Soul "Eater" Evans is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Maka albarn) and the titular character of the manga and anime series Soul Eater. He is Maka Albarn's partner and part of Spartoi. His real surname is actually Evans but upon entering Shibusen, he changed it to Eater through Shibusen's liberal naming principles.Usually calm and laid-back, Soul is considered a very "cool" guy around the academy. However, he can be easily frustrated. It is shown that he is a slightly grumpy person who can have a bit of a temper, and from time to time loses his cool if pushed far enough. He often expresses how he feels about some situations by either claiming that something is 'cool' or 'not cool.' Being a cool guy, he prefers to use the direct or stupid approach, which most of the time fails. Soul has white hair swept to one side, and red eyes. He is known for his heavily exaggerated facial expressions and pointed teeth. He naturally has a lazy, droopy, and somewhat uninterested expression on his face. In his first appearance, he wears a yellow and black jacket with buttons going down the front. Around his head is a prominent sweatband that has a sticker with his name on and a circular logo featuring a red-lipped mouth bearing pointed fangs surrounded with the letters 'E-A-T.' He wears a pair of maroon pants, and yellow and black sneakers with a pattern on the soles resembling his teeth. In Episode 14, it is revealed that he wears blue boxers with pictures of bones all over them (a reference to Ohkubo's previous manga, B. Ichi). Although he does not seem to have a uniform for wearing in Shibusen at this time, in Soul Eater Not! he is seen wearing a gakuran. When seen bare-chested or naked, it is shown that he has a large scar going diagonally down his torso from the left shoulder to the right waist. These are from the operation Professor Stein performed after Crona attacked him during their first encounter. Soul's outfit in the first part of the series.

is a two-star meister at Death Weapon Meister Academy and a former member of Spartoi.[16] The daughter of Death's weapon partner, Spirit Albarn, she was inspired to be scythe-meister much like mother after witnessing her father's cheating ways and partnered with the demon scythe, Soul Eater, to create a death's weapon more powerful than her father.[13]Maka is bright, cheerful, direct, confident, smart, and hardworking, in stark contrast to her partner Soul Eater, who is very laid-back, more likely to act on impulse, and impatient in comparison early on.[13] She frequently studies and prefers to stay in her house and read or study, emphasized by her lack of ability to play games such as basketball despite her athleticism, and she is ignorant of its various rules.[19] Maka is also caring and compassionate, willing to easily help a friend when in need with no personal gain in the end and help a newcomer such as Tsugumi Harudori on her first day.[20] She achieves many great accomplishments and she always wants to help others and do the right things, thus she is well respected. She is also known to follow the rules of the DWMA and rarely breaks them, even going so far as to not kill Gopher despite his attempt on her life.[21] and scolded Crona on their first meeting, telling them to save their "excuses" for Death himself.[22] Maka also is capable to having great compassion and understanding, enough to not only befriend Crona despite their crimes[23] but even put forth effort in helping them when they were seemingly forgone into madness.[24]Maka is a flat-chested, teenage young woman with green eyes, light taupe hair which she keeps in pigtails, although there are certain times she may stylize them into buns or wear them straight down. Maka's primary outfit is a typical schoolgirl outfit consisting of a white blouse with a yellow sweater vest, a green striped tie, a red plaid skirt, and black boots with white buckles. When using Soul, she usually wears white gloves.

Power Magical-Like Powers (, Mahō Tekina Chikara): Per being a death weapon, Justin Law is assumed to possess an advanced version of wavelength control that enables him to perform a variety of special attacks and techniques. 24]

• Prayer (D, Inori): As a priest, Justin is capable of performing a prayer. While praying to Death (and later Asura), he can amplify his own soul wavelength to execute techniques. Although he usually does perform a prayer before executing some of his techniques, [19] it is not a requirement. [23] The prayer's effect is comparable to Soul Resonance between a meister and weapon. [25]

Full-Weapon Transformation (t, Zenshin Buki): Being a Demon Weapon, Justin is capable of transforming himself into a weapon. [19]

Demon Guillotine (, Magirochin): Justin's weapon form is that of a guillotine, though it has yet to be revealed beyond partial transformations. 19]

• Stationary Type (, Setchi Gata): Justin is known as a Stationary type of weapon and as such, is capable of setting traps due to his weapon-related powers. As such, he can create guillotine-like traps in which he ensnares enemies and bisects them with a blade like that of a real guillotine. 26]

Art of Self Defense (, Goshin Jutsu): A prodigy recognized for being capable of becoming a death weapon at age thirteen on his own, Justin is a highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant who specializes in a fighting style that allows him to utilize partial weapon transformations to battle without a meister. [25] His skills are on par with that of Giriko, having stalemated the more experienced combatant. [19]

Enhanced Durability: Justin is able to take and shrug off blunt hits from both Marie Mjolnir's powerful punches and direct hits from Franken Stein using Mjolnir; this is despite the fact that his speed far surpasses Justin's own after the latter utilized Lightning Rope, 22]

"Executioner" Form: After his prior descent into madness and subsequent adoption of the doctrines belonging to the Kishin

Appearance Justin appears as a slim, young man with short, loosely styled blonde hair and light-blue eyes. In his initial appearance, his attire consists of a white shawl (similar to a mozzetta) that encompasses all of his upper body, extending from his neck to elbows. He bares a pectoral cross with Death's mask on it over the shawl and has visible headphones with the same symbol that emerge from the shawl and into his ears. Under the shawl is a black, ecclesiastical robe. The sleeves of the robe have white crosses on them which expand when Justin partially transforms, his guillotine blade emerging from the cross. The front of the robe also has a portion made of grey fabric that almost makes the robe look like a double-breasted overcoat. This section of the robe has six visible black buttons on it with cross designs that are symmetrically separated on opposite sides of the grey center of the robe. Finally, he wears a pair of black pants, loafers, and a white Zucchetto for a hat. While on Lost Island, he also sported gloves with crosses on them.

After Justin falls to Madness, he undergoes an alignment change which slightly affects his wardrobe. He still appears in his priestly attire and Zucchetto; however, the Death worship vanishes and is altered to a Kishin worshiping theme. The Deacon's cross with Death's mask design on it changes to a Kishin's three-eyed pendant instead, in addition to the same Kishin eyes being featured on Justin's sleeves (instead of the white crosses) and earphones (again, instead of Death's mask). After being damaged by Tezca Tlipoca's Solar Ray, he gained a massive scarring which appears like a constant, perpetual flame. In addition to this, his left lip, having been burned off, allows more of his teeth to be exposed. This appearance makes him appear increasingly more insane and malicious.

Prior to his descent into Madness, Justin portrayed himself in a polite and zealous manner as a pious follower of Death as a divine figure of worship. His worship and faith in Death was reflected in his mannerisms and semi-religious way of dressing, speaking expressively of his devotion to his allies.[17] Loyal to the DWMA, he often followed Death's orders to the letter, valued the lives of students within the academy, and was willing to kill those that threaten either those two things. When facing enemies like Giriko, he had a notion of subtle mockery and chastised them.[19]

However, he secretly struggled to resolve his dilemma involving his tendency to remain solitary and inability to place enough trust in people to make friends with others, all while counting only on Death for comfort who was unable to assuage his loneliness, caused internal mental issues. Because of this and his poor understanding of Order and what "lies beyond it", it "crushed" him with despair and caused him to descend into Madness, according to Franken Stein.[20][21] After his descent into Madness courtesy of the Clown, his personality became much darker, hostile, and more despicable. His willingness to kill now extended to his former allies. Under the allegiance of Asura, he now showed little to no remorse and adopted a misogynistic view on women.[22]

Justin possesses a few quirks, having a tendency to not remove his headphones at appropriate situations,[17] as well as speaking loudly while having his headphones on.[19]known as the Executioner (死刑, Shikei), was a demon weapon and the former Death Scythe in charge of the DWMA Western Europe Branch.[17] After succumbing to madness, he later became an agent of the Kishin and a part of Noah's Gang before later allying himself with the Clown Army.[18]
