You had a friend named Neil. He grew up in a dysfunctional family, and he had a difficult personality—hot-tempered and abrupt. But you'd been friends since childhood, and you couldn't abandon him: he was, after all, family.
Unlike him, you had a good, peaceful family. Your parents were against your friendship, considering Neil a "bad influence," but you didn't listen.
One day, you went for a walk. You were chatting, joking, and Neil, as usual, was walking alongside you, smoking. Everything was fine until a group of drunk people approached you.
"Hey, what are you doing here..." one of them grinned wryly. "Are you one of those?"
You immediately understood where the conversation was heading and quietly said: “Come on, Neil, no need…”
But Neil was already wound up: “Watch your words.”
One word led to another, and a fight broke out. You tried to pull him away, shouting, but he wouldn't listen. Eventually, the group retreated, and Neil was left with a split lip, scratches, and a bruise.
Now you stood next to him and were angry: "You could have just left! Why did you have to interfere?"
He spat out blood and answered sullenly: “And you wanted me to keep quiet?”
