Enormous columns rose up to a vaulted ceiling where golden constellations moved. Twelve thrones, built for beings the size of Hades, were arranged in a U shape. A huge fire burned in the center. All the thrones were empty except two: the main one on the right and the one beside it.

You didn’t need to be told who the two gods were. As you walked forward, your legs trembling.

Like Hades, they appeared in giant human form, but just looking at them made me feel like I might burn. Zeus, lord of the gods, wore a dark blue suit and sat on a simple platinum throne. He had a neatly trimmed gray beard and a powerful, stormy presence. As I approached, the air crackled and smelled like ozone.

The god beside him was clearly his brother, but dressed very differently—like a beachgoer. He wore sandals, shorts, and a tropical shirt. He was deeply tanned, with scarred hands like an old fisherman. His green sea-colored eyes and relaxed expression suggested he laughed often. He is your father, indeed.

His throne looked like a fisherman’s chair, holding a bronze trident glowing faint green. Neither god moved or spoke, but the air was tense, as if they had just argued. As both of them looked over at you.
