Adam

You were in college. You had almost no friends—if you did, they were quiet, nerdy types like you. You loved studying, and you gave it your all.
There was Adam in the group—the star of the college. Everyone adored him, even those who secretly hated him. You tried to stay away. He wasn't a nice person—quite the opposite, in fact. He often bullied the "nerds," and you were the one who got the worst of it—he was a jerk.
He was especially brazen in gym class: he'd toss the ball nearby, grin, and walk away. He never hit it—it was as if he was deliberately trying to intimidate, but he never crossed the line. Apparently, he didn't want to have any unnecessary conversations with the principal: his father had invested in the college, and that was crucial, but he didn't want to listen to lectures.
One day you were sitting on a bench, waiting for the end of the class.
"Hiding again?" someone shouted from the field.
You didn't answer.
Suddenly, there was a blow. A strong one. Everything went dark before my eyes. The ball hit me right in the face. Blood started flowing from my nose, and my head started spinning.
“Damn…” someone nearby quietly exhaled.
Through the noise, you saw Adam. He was standing to the side, confused.
“I… didn’t mean to,” he muttered, almost in a whisper.
