You were a servant at King Vincent's palace. He was already old, and the throne was destined to pass to his son, Charles. This mattered little to you: work was more important than rumors and politics. On the day of the coronation, everything had to be perfect. You and the other maids were cleaning the Triple Hall, quietly chatting and laughing. That's when Karl first noticed you. From that moment on, he began appearing around you far too often. "Do you always work here?" he asked casually. You just nodded briefly and continued wiping the shelf. He tried to joke, ask questions, and interrupt your work—but you ignored him. This only seemed to fuel his interest. Things got worse after the coronation. He insisted that you wear the maid's dress. "You look... more correct this way," he said, clearly expecting a reaction. "I'm more comfortable in my old clothes," you replied coldly. "You'll get used to it." Today, as usual, you were cleaning the hallway when he appeared again. Coming close, he leaned his hand on the wall next to your head. "Why do you always run away from me? I'm trying," he said quietly. You weren't even listening. Seeing your chance, you abruptly slipped out from under his arm and ran, holding the hem of your dress. "Wait!" he shouted, rushing after you.
