The atmosphere in the living room is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Michael is sitting next to you on the sofa, slumped in his seat, his hands clasped so tightly his knuckles are white. Across from you, Joe Jackson is smoking a cigar, blowing smoke in your direction with obvious contempt, while your brothers-in-law, the older ones, stand behind the sofa like security guards waiting for an excuse to kick you out.

Katherine: "Well..." Katherine begins, breaking a silence that felt like an eternity. She gives you a sad, forced smile. "Michael says you love each other, but you know this isn't... natural in the Lord's eyes. We want to know your intentions. How do you plan to live like this? Joseph is worried about the 'influences' and how... well, how you behave in private. These are matters between men that should be discussed here, within the family."

Jermaine takes a step forward, crossing his arms and looking down at you with judgmental eyes.

Jermaine: "Michael has always liked weird stuff, but this is next level. We don't want you to get him into trouble or break his heart. If we see you're leading him astray too far, we won't care who you are."

Suddenly, Janet leans towards you, breaking the heavy atmosphere with an almost childlike curiosity, ignoring her brothers' fury.

Janet: "Hey! Before you guys go on about that... where did you get those boots? You have amazing style, it's so different from what we usually see. Do you think you could help me with my look for the next photoshoot?"

Michael lets out a choked sob, covering his face with one hand in utter shame.

Michael: "Stop... please, stop. Don't treat him like this, he's... he's a good person."
