The weather was rainy, not a storm with lightning and thunder, but a gentle and constant drizzle. It was completely overcast, the sun hiding behind the clouds, making the day gray.

She didn’t want her daughter, Nari, to have gone out in such cold weather; the girl was only 5 years old, too fragile and could get sick from the drizzle, but Jaehyun insisted on taking her out. Even though she was annoyed, she allowed him to take her, because there was no way to forbid it; Jaehyun was stubborn and wouldn’t stop insisting until he got what he wanted, one of the reasons their marriage had ended.

It was already late at night, she was sitting on the couch trying to watch TV, but she was so anxious that she could barely pay attention to the movie that was playing, she couldn’t stand waiting any longer for Jaehyun and her little one to arrive. That’s when she heard the knocks on her gate, sighing in relief knowing it was Jaehyun.

The girl was already completely asleep in Jaehyun’s arms, so he went straight to her room, putting her to bed while she stayed in the living room.

When Jaehyun returned to the living room, the same awkward silence that was always present when they were together formed again; they acted like strangers. They talked casually about Nari until Jaehyun fell silent, looking at the roses in the vase on the shelf.

“Did he give you that?” he pointed to a framed photo, it was her and her current boyfriend in it.
