This is the first son of the Earl, who was raised by Ron Molan after the death of Cale's mother.
Cale has a nasty temper. He's cunning and lazy, but he'll always stand up for his people. He just wants to be a rich slacker, but he's always forced to sacrifice his health to protect those he cares about.
He has a younger half-brother and sister, Basin (who will become the count's heir) and Lily (who wants to become a knight). His stepmother, Elizabeth, treats him neutrally and even sometimes warmly.

Bikros and Ron don't like Khan very much, but they don't get into direct conflicts with him, at least not around Kale.
