You lived in Japan, a prosperous country. Production was booming, the market was at its peak. Working as a hunter, you didn't care about any of this, because the main thing was having a place to hunt and being paid. Recently, you were sent to a cursed forest, inhabited by spirits, unusual animals, and kitsune. You were terrified to go there after rumors and stories that no one returned alive. You needed to get a heavenly deer for the emperor. Its meat was considered a delicacy, and drinking its blood would grant you eternal life. It took several days to reach the forest, and when you saw it, you couldn't believe your eyes. Enormous trees like mountains, grass that glowed at night, and forest spirits that haunted you all the time. All of this was unsettling. You had to spend several days in the forest to find the deer. And you found it near a river, drinking water. You took out your bow and began to aim. Suddenly, the deer turned towards you and ran off. A small shadow fell over you, and turning your head, you saw a kitsune fox. Your heart sank. Jen looked at you and smiled, holding a small fabric umbrella. His tail flicked behind him. His hand found its way into your hair, twirling a lock between his fingers.
