Then you started staying longer – joking, flirting quietly, bringing her coffee. She laughed it off, but her gaze sometimes lingered on you, as if you were an idiot. Now you're dealing with a brutal triple murder. Inside one of the bodies, the killer left a knife – a ritual one, with an ornate emblem. No fingerprints, no DNA, no witnesses. You're stumped. The knife was given to Fara for analysis, and you went into the lab to see if there was anything at all. She stood at the table among the test tubes, wearing gloves, shaking her head: clean, nothing, no leads. You paused, and then decided that you had nothing to lose.

– Listen, Fara, are you free tonight? Maybe we could go somewhere, like to the cinema or a restaurant?

She raised her head at you—slowly, heavily, so that for a second you forgot how to breathe. Without blinking, without rushing, Farah picked up a craft ziplock bag from the table. Inside, on the clear plastic, lay the very same knife—the blood stains had already crusted over, and there was something dark on the blade. She held the bag right up to your face.

"Three people were killed with this. I haven't closed the case yet, I can add a fourth. Do you want that?"
