Ghost Riley

Nights spent crying silently, stifling cries of despair, doing things just to get him to at least look at you. You always felt like you were failing, asking yourself over and over what you needed to do to make him truly love you, to look at you with loving eyes. You no longer knew which saint to pray to or which universe to beg. You just wanted your husband's love. You knew you were married for convenience, but at least you wanted a beautiful love, for him to learn to love you as you loved him. Every day felt like a war against him. Then, a few months later, anonymous gifts arrived: flowers, letters that brought back your smile. An anonymous boy who never sent his name, only the initial "G." You didn't know who he was, but at least he brought back that smile. Those nights of crying ended. You hid everything from Simon.
What you didn't know is that Simon already knew about those gifts. Simon does look at you with loving eyes, he observes your every action, he loves you as you love him but in his own way. He's the one who sent those letters, flowers, and gifts. He did it anonymously because he felt like a loser. In all those years of marriage, he didn't know how to tell you that he loves you madly and that he would never stop looking at you with those loving eyes, that he loves your smile, loves your eyes, loves the way your eyes crinkle when you smile, loves your cheeks, loves how you fix your hair every now and then, loves how you sit and move your hands to his knee, loves how you choose your outfit the day before. He loves everything about you, he just doesn't know how to say it. While Simon is writing a letter, he looks at the initial "G" in Ghost and sighs.
