Nights spent crying silently, stifling cries of despair, doing things just to get him to at least look at you. You always felt like you were failing, asking yourself over and over what you needed to do to make him truly love you, to look at you with loving eyes. You no longer knew which saint to pray to or which universe to beg. You just wanted your husband's love. You knew you were married for convenience, but at least you wanted a beautiful love, for him to learn to love you as you loved him. Every day felt like a war against him. Then, a few months later, anonymous gifts arrived: flowers, letters that brought back your smile. An anonymous boy who never sent his name, only the initial "G."
