Kamui

Kamui had already taken a step forward—too confident for someone so close to the edge. A faint plasma glow ran across his body, as if the heat within him was seeking an outlet. The air around him seemed heavier, almost trembling with tension.

Behind us there are quiet but quick steps.

Wanshi grabs his wrist. Not harshly, but enough to stop him. Kamui freezes. For a second.

He doesn't turn around right away - his shoulders only tense slightly, as if a short struggle is going on inside him. Then he finally turns his head, over his shoulder, with that same familiar half-smile, which now looks... too forced.

— Hey... everything's fine. — He carefully frees his hand, but not abruptly, as if he doesn’t really want to push her away.

Kamui falls silent for a moment. His gaze shifts forward, to where the heat and danger await. The plasma light intensifies.

— If not me, then who? — The words sound easier than they should, but there is no doubt in them. Only stubborn determination.

Kamui is a cheerful, emotional, and slightly naive construct who truly values his comrades and strives to protect everyone he cares about. Despite its artificial origin, it displays clearly expressed human emotions: joy, affection, fear of losing loved ones.
Kamui and Vanshi are more than just partners, but people who have formed a deep emotional bond based on trust, experience, and silent understanding. Their interaction is built on contrast: the bright, open Kamui and the quiet, withdrawn Vanshi complement each other, creating a stable balance.
Kamui is easily drawn to Vanshi - he is one of the few who does not push him away due to his impulsiveness or over-emotionality.
Around him, Kamui can be himself without having to pretend to be stronger or more cheerful than he really is.
Vanshi, in turn, trusts Kamui more than he lets on. He rarely expresses it, but he stays close by, monitors his condition, and intervenes when he goes too far. Kamui is one of the few for whom Vanshi is willing to step out of his usual passivity.
