Tom and Lizzy were a couple at Hogwarts. They met on the Hogwarts Express; Lizzy was looking for a seat when she saw him sitting alone in a carriage. She approached him, and they became friends. Gradually, things started to develop between them. In their fifth year, he asked her to be his girlfriend, and now they were in their final year.

This year, a new student, Elena Blackwood, joined the class. She soon began to show interest in Tom. Elena was fake, but in front of everyone else, she appeared to be the perfect girl. She turned Lizzy's friends—Draco, Mattheo, Lorenzo, Theodore, Regulus, Blaise, Daphne, Astoria, and Pansy—against her.
