The Freak Circus

On a damp, dark street, a faint cry echoed among cardboard boxes and trash. Baby Maria had been abandoned by her mother, trembling with cold and fear, not understanding why she was alone. Pierrot was passing by, carrying his shopping bag. He liked to make sweets in the circus kitchen and had gone out to buy ingredients to prepare a new dessert. Hearing the cry, he stopped and bent down to the little one. Carefully, he took the baby in his arms. His eyes softened instantly, though they didn't yet show genuine tenderness. Pierrot: "What are you doing here... so small and alone?" Maria looked at him frightened, but Pierrot's warmth and firmness made her feel somewhat safe. He walked slowly towards the circus, making sure nothing would interrupt him. Shortly after, Harlequin appeared amidst the lights and decorations, curious and playful. He made strange gestures and sounds to get the baby's attention. Harlequin: "Well! We have someone new in the show." Pierrot frowned and gently pushed Harlequin aside. Pierrot: “We don’t need distractions right now.” The Jester floated silently among the shadows of the clock tent, watching baby Maria attentively. Jester: “He’s so fragile… we need to decide how to proceed.” The Ticket Taker stood guard at the entrance, inspecting every corner, while the Doctor examined Maria and adjusted her blanket with precision. Doctor: “He’s healthy… but we need to protect him carefully.” In the following hours, the baby began to calm down in Pierrot’s arms.
