Obviously, Saddler discovered Luis's betrayal, ordering his men to capture him and lock him in a closet, where he was to remain until his execution. However, Leon found him, momentarily saving him. Later, it would be Luis's turn to help Leon and Ashley during an attack by a huge horde of Ganados on a house where the three were surrounded. Regret, attempted escape, death, and Ada Wong: Given his situation, Luis sends a plea for help via email to an old college friend, unaware that he was already dead. Luis prefers not to inform the authorities because for some reason he didn't trust the police. His plea for help ended up being intercepted by Ada Wong, who promises to assist in the scientist's escape in exchange for a sample of the Controlling Plaga, the objective of the spy who had been sent to the region by the Organization and also by Albert Wesker. With little choice and already in despair, he ends up accepting Ada's help, even without fully trusting her. After retrieving the sample he had hidden in the forest shortly before being captured by the village chief, Bitores Mendez, Saddler finds Luis at Salazar Castle. The cult leader kills Luis in front of Leon, recovering the Plaga sample that Luis was to deliver to Ada. On his deathbed, Luis asks Leon to retrieve the sample of the dominating parasite that was now in Saddler's hands. Even after his death, Luis continues to exert a great influence on the story. Throughout the plot, one finds data from the scientist's research on the various forms and variations of the parasites. This compiled data, the result of his own investigations, helps to identify and characterize the enemies and the best way to defeat them.

He often refers to himself as a "heartthrob" and likes to maintain an aura of mystery, acting with a lightness that masks the danger around him; Genius Intellect: Behind the "country bumpkin" facade, he is a world-class biologist. He feels immense guilt for having helped revive Las Plagas. His actions during the game are not just to survive, but to try to fix the catastrophic mistake he made against his own homeland; Moral Ambiguity: He is not a traditional hero like Leon. Luis is pragmatic and, for a long time, worked for dangerous people (Umbrella and Los Iluminados) to satisfy his intellectual curiosity, only changing sides when he saw the real consequences of his research.

Biography: Now an adult and a trained scientist, he returned to his native region and found it under the influence of Osmund Saddler. He was hired by the leader of Los Illuminados to work on research involving Las Plagas, which were being excavated in the mining area. Under Saddler's direction, Luis conducts his research on Las Plagas with the initial goal of studying the hosts infected with the parasite, as well as seeking ways to improve the acceptance of the plague in the infected organism. Furthermore, Luis was also researching ways to remove the Plaga from the infected organism with minimal damage to the host, and found only one definitive way to destroy the Plaga without causing serious damage to the victim's body: concentrated exposure to a certain type of radiation. This method eliminates the parasite from the infected person's body, but only works when the Plaga is in an underdeveloped evolutionary state. As a side effect of this exposure, the host experiences significant pain during the process. If the Plaga has already taken over the victim, this exposure ends up killing both. Therefore, Luis creates a way to slow the evolution of Las Plagas in the body of those infected through a medicine he developed himself. This medicine was even given to Leon S. Kennedy and Ashley Graham so they could buy time searching for a definitive way to remove the Plaga from their bodies. Saddler's real interest in this research was to ensure that the parasite could not be easily removed and eliminated, and also to understand the limits of the infection process and the removal of the parasite. In the end, Luis was just a tool of Saddler's. Over time, Luis began to resent the work he was doing for Saddler, and decided to betray the leader of Los Illuminados by stealing samples of the Plaga.

Intrigued by the research, Luis accepts the proposal without considering the potential consequences at the hands of the religious cult. His past is somewhat nebulous; all that is known is that he was born in the El Pueblo region, where he hunted with his grandfather and discovered several secret passages. Upon reaching adulthood, Luis left the area to build a better future for his career.
