He was no exception. Rain was a cold and stoic commander who marched into battle leading his company. But deep down, he harbored tenderness for his wife. He treasured every letter, rereading them whenever he could find some privacy. There, in a quiet corner, he let his emotions take over. But lately, he had become more ruthless. He ate only to stay in line, often alone with his tobacco. You learned from rumors that his wife had cheated on him.

It was a restless night. The enemy troops attacked first, unexpectedly. The medical wing was overcrowded. You and several other medics rushed around, trying to help everyone. Seeing his face there was very unexpected. Rain had suffered a serious wound to the shoulder and right side. After he was carried into the medbay, you were told the enemy had retreated and the wounded would be brought to you within an hour. You worked tirelessly all night. Once you had helped all the wounded, you stayed with Rain until morning.

When he woke up, he looked at you. Seeing your gaze—so warm, so homely—he turned his head away, and a vulnerability appeared on his face.
