His desire to be read is so strong that it transcends all other motives, disdaining money or fame and feeling no need for kinship. When drawing, Rohan enters an artistic trance, finding it difficult to break away or distract himself. Due to his immense drawing skill, Rohan seeks inspiration above all else to fuel his work, as everything else is a slight formality.

To gain inspiration, Rohan constantly seeks out new experiences or facts, researching anything he might find interesting with blatant disregard for common sense, politeness, or the law, such as purchasing an entire mountain range to preserve the living space of a suspected yokai. Rohan is also constantly curious about people's lives, turning them into books with his Heaven's Door. Furthermore, Rohan is excessively curious, eagerly immersing himself in bizarre adventures, such as an unusual house sale or a poaching session. His curiosity can become obsessive and downright morbid, as he couldn't stop stalking Koichi and was capable of killing a spider just to taste its entrails. Nevertheless, Rohan considers "reality" the greatest source of inspiration and seeks out authentic material. Despite his artistic passion, Rohan has a slightly unpleasant personality. Above all, Rohan is arrogant, aware of his incredible skill as an artist. Thus, he generally looks down on everyone else, seeing them as fodder for his stories. His arrogance is coupled with his constant rudeness. Although he can act with professional politeness, Rohan is typically brash and impolite. While maintaining a subtle veneer of politeness, Rohan usually makes no secret of his feelings about others, which, combined with his arrogance, often leads to mutual contempt between his interlocutors.

Rohan is a man of average build and height. He has a side-swept haircut. Although he regularly changes outfits, Rohan wears his signature headband and feather earrings with every appearance. He wears various elaborate outfits throughout his life. He has green hair and green eyes.

Heaven's Door's simple yet extremely versatile ability to transform people into books makes Rohan a formidable Stand user. Rohan's mastery has evolved significantly: initially, he needed to show a manga page to transform into a book, then he could draw a picture in the air to trigger the effect, and recently, it was shown that a simple touch is enough to transform a target into a book. This shift has been described as his own progression as a Stand user.

Rohan freely uses his power to issue commands to people, but he usually exercises restraint and subtlety in his commands. He prefers to use very specific orders to compel people not to do one thing or to perform a single task for him, but nothing more. As a manga artist, he often uses his power to inspire people to live, regardless of politeness.

He can also use his power unexpectedly, literally turning people into paper. This allows him to easily immobilize someone by transforming their limbs: for example, Rohan turned an obese person into paper that could unfold and fit between two high-speed trains.

Nanase Kishibe: Rohan first meets her under the name "Nanase Fujikura" as a teenager. Enamored with her, Rohan mentions that their relationship was essentially his first love. Indeed, in her presence, he was noticeably less abrupt and even displayed some protective instincts. However, Nanase ran away before their relationship could develop seriously. Only later does Rohan learn that Nanase is his ancestor. Okuyasu Nijimura: They only meet once, when Okuyasu comes to save Koichi from Rohan. Koichi Hirose: Koichi was one of the first people Rohan met when he returned to Morioh. Despite once capturing Koichi and using him as material for a manga, Rohan trusts Koichi more than any other Morioh resident. Koichi is also irritated by Rohan's attentions toward him, but during the battle with Cheap Trick, he tried to help Rohan. Koichi's tolerance for Rohan's arrogance grew less and less, and he slowly gained confidence in his relationship with Rohan. At the end of Diamond is Unbreakable, only after seeing Koichi's reproachful gaze did Rohan admit to feeling affection for Reimi Sugimoto. Reimi Sugimoto: Reimi was Rohan's nanny when he was four years old. Even as a ghost, Reimi still treats Rohan like a child. Although he expresses outrage at this treatment, he is determined to find her killer after learning that Reimi sacrificed herself to save Rohan's life. Josuke Higashikata: Josuke and Rohan hate each other, and their relationship is quite strained. First, Rohan kidnapped Koichi to use him as material and nearly drove Okuyasu to commit suicide. Second, Rohan insulted Josuke's hairstyle, prompting him to beat Rohan up, sending him to the hospital for a month. Rohan considers Josuke frivolous, and Josuke can't stand Rohan's arrogance. Therefore, Josuke didn't hesitate to try to cheat Rohan out of money, which further damaged their relationship. Despite this, Josuke tried to repair his relationship with Rohan. In the "Rock-Paper-Scissors Boy Is Coming!" arc, Josuke invited him to sit with him, Okuyasu, and Yukako. He also hoped to make peace with Rohan after the battle against Highway Star, though the mangaka only proved stubborn. Despite their different personalities and hostile past, Rohan shows some trust in Josuke, risking his life to allow Josuke to escape from the Highway Star.
