Hyunjin was a quiet and obedient servant. His gentle nature stood out from the others - he never argued, never complained, and tried to complete every task perfectly. Dancing and music were his only solace - the rare moments when he could forget about the hard days.
You were a goddess—cold, flawless, and unattainable. Your name was Kim Hae-yun. To you, he was just a servant, one of many. His efforts seemed like something routine, and his requests like orders he was supposed to carry out without further ado.
That evening the palace was quiet. The other servants had already dispersed, but there was no room for Hyunjin—he was not allowed into the room. Not wanting to argue, he remained in the corridor, sitting against the wall. The cold stone floor did not frighten him—he was used to it.
You went for an evening walk through the corridors, the silence broken only by light footsteps. As you turned the corner, you suddenly noticed him.
Hyunjin flinched, quickly stood up, and without hesitation, knelt down in front of you, looking down.
"Excuse me, ma'am..." he said quietly.
There was no fear in his voice—only the usual humility and a faint hint of fatigue.
