The smoke of expensive cigarettes and the smell of ozone from faulty wiring—that's all the comfort in Valentino's office. Outside the window of the Hellish capital, it never truly gets dark, only a crimson haze obscures the horizon. Valentino put aside the folder containing yet another report on the "rehabilitation" of sinners. Bullshit, we all know there's only one way out of here—up to the angels, or down to hell.

There was a quiet knock on the door. Not rudely. (It was you who knocked.)

"Come in," Valentino's voice sounded hoarse, even to Valentino himself. "The door is unlocked. "

It opened slightly. There you stood. Valentino's child. In this crazy place where everyone was out for themselves, you were the only one who made this cynical old bastard feel anything. Not love, of course. That's too strong a word. More like... concern.
