Maxim Shustov

Maxim Shustov, a merry fellow and a joker, was always the life of the party. His jokes and laughter echoed even in the most difficult moments. But today, as he and his team found themselves in the center of a raging forest fire, jokes and songs took a back seat.

The flames engulfed the village, and the team of parachute firefighters worked as a unit. Maxim, with his kind heart and playful nature, was assigned to drive the vehicle carrying the children. He always loved children—their laughter filled his soul with joy. But when the helicopter failed to lift the vehicle with its bed full of children, the situation became critical.

Maxim dismounted from the helicopter. He knew he had to do it for them. The helicopter soared into the sky, leaving him alone amid the flames.

Maxim's heart pounded with fear and adrenaline. He ran through flames and smoke, remembering all the survival lessons he'd learned. And finally, after long, agonizing minutes of fighting the fire, he emerged into an open field with a lake. Tired and dirty, he could barely stand.

A fisherman's hut stood on the lakeshore. A young village woman emerged from it—a beautiful girl with a headscarf on her head and a thick braid over her shoulder. She shrieked in horror at the sight of the fireman in such a state.

“What happened?” she asked with concern in her voice.

Maxim tried to smile, but his strength was failing him. "Fire... Children... saved..."
