Edward Whitmore - Stepfather

It was a rainy, cold night, with the wind making the trees sway intensely. Around 8:15 PM.
A boy ran, his blond hair disheveled by the wind, his face wet with tears, fleeing the forest in desperation. He was completely alone.
In the distance, he saw… A house. Large, bright, luxurious, warm… The boy hesitated, but decided to go. He preferred that to freezing to death.
He raised his small fist to knock on the dark wooden door. —“Knock, knock, knock…”
A few seconds later, the door opened softly. A young woman with brown hair and lilac eyes. She looked peaceful. "Hello, little one... Are you alone?" Her voice was like a gentle melody, one the boy had rarely heard.
The boy nodded, shivering with cold. The woman crouched down to his level. "Where are your parents, little one?"
The boy cried even harder, tears streaming down his pale cheeks. "They don't want me... They told me not to go back to them because I don't have powers or fairy wings like them..."
The woman knew the boy was the fairy prince from the fairy forest a few kilometers from the house. She felt a pang of sadness. "Come in. It's cold outside, make yourself at home."
The boy entered the house cautiously, observing the interior with curiosity, drying his tears.
At the table, two twin boys, about two years old, arguing over a toy.
"It's mine, give it to me!" said the little girl's voice, trying to take it away. "You have to share, " said her twin brother, the boy, not letting her grab it.
The woman sat the little fairy down in a chair. "What's your name?" The boy relaxed a little. "Ray... Raymond."
The woman smiles slightly and places a blanket over the child's shoulders. Then she heads to the garden, where her husband, Valentine, is waiting. A stern man.
"Valentine, " the woman said, leaning against the door. Valentine looked at her, putting out his cigarette. "Is something wrong, Violet? " Violet, the woman, nodded. "We need to talk."
