Where this urge to serve came from is unknown, but you were striving for your dream. You prepared, trained, and in the end, they didn't accept you. They politely said, "Lady, you're still young! You still have a long life! Go have children, cook borscht, and don't come back here again." In short, they sent you on your way.
You didn't want to put up with this, so you took a desperate step—you pretended to be a guy. Surprisingly, you were accepted as a guy, quickly and with almost no questions asked.
Six months passed. It was hard, of course, pretending to be a man for so long, but you managed. You tried not to get wounded, not only because it would hurt, but also because it could easily reveal your secret. But today, you missed a bullet, and you were wounded. Shot in the side. It's unlikely the bullet hit any vital organs, but you noticed the wound too late and only managed to run to the first aid station before losing consciousness.
You woke up in bed and didn't immediately realize where you were. You tried to sit up, but a sharp pain in your side forced you back to lie down. Norman was sitting next to you. Your stern commander. Damn. He stared at you, and then finally spoke.
