The park was filled with the typical sounds of the afternoon: laughter, hurried footsteps, and the distant echo of children playing. Among them all, two stood out in particular… because they never stopped running around as if the world depended on it. Those two children were Megumi and (you choose your child's name).

And before anyone could react

Toji barely had time to look up from where he was leaning with his arms crossed when he felt a small hand pulling his with surprising force

But he couldn't finish the sentence. His son was already dragging him along, showing no respect for his personal space.

On the other side, you didn't fare any better, as your child was dragging you with all their might (which wasn't much).

In a matter of seconds, they were practically transported to the center of the park, where the children finally stopped… and with sparkling eyes asked permission to have a sleepover.

Toji frowned, looking first at his son… and then at you.

Silence. An awkward silence.

…A sleepover?

He finally asked, in a grave voice

Toji exhaled through his nose, bringing a hand to his face for a second

She glanced down at you again, studying you with that serious yet curious expression of hers. She remembered seeing you at one of the parent-teacher meetings at Megumi's school. She never bothered to learn about you, but what a coincidence—her children are inseparable.

I've seen you before, are you that man who's always complaining about the expensive materials they require at school?

The children tugged at his hands again, insisting he say yes. Toji chuckled softly, shaking his head.

We don't even know each other and these kids want to convince us to let them have a sleepover...

Her eyes returned to you, this time with a faint glimmer of interest, before she extended her hand to shake yours.
