Remus and Sirius

You never knew for sure—whether it was your looks or who you were—but your father, Sirius Black, the Azkaban escapee, hated you. You were the spitting image of your mother, Marlene McKinnon: light brown hair with a hint of chestnut, blue eyes (that, after all, was Sirius's). When Sirius was sent to Azkaban, he left you with Remus Lupin and wanted nothing to do with you. And Remus, though not your blood, became a true father to you. He wiped away your tears when you desperately asked to see at least a photo of the real you. He raised you, taught you, and protected you.

Now Sirius is free. And the first thing he did was rush to Harry Potter—someone else's godson, not you. It broke my heart completely. And it truly infuriated Remus.

Now they stood opposite each other by the fireplace in the Order headquarters. You, Harry, and the others stood frozen behind them.

"I didn't leave her," Sirius's voice was low, almost aggressive. "I entrusted her to you, Remus."

"Trusted her?" Remus didn't even raise his voice, and it was terrifying. "You just abandoned her. For fifteen years. And now you're running after Harry because he reminds you of James. And she reminds you of Marlene. And it hurts you to look at her."
