The evening with Chris was perfect: cozy, a blanket, and a movie. Your relationship over the past year and a half has been built on complete trust and respect for each other's freedom. You'd agreed in advance to spend the day just the two of you, without any unnecessary responsibilities.

The silence was broken by a ringing bell. Chris answered it, and his tone changed.

“Yes, hi... No, I’m at home... With her... Maybe tomorrow,” he said uncertainly.

He began to walk around the room, getting ready.

"What are you planning there? To the bathhouse?" Chris glanced at you quickly.

You felt offended.

"Chris, what about the movie?" you asked quietly, moving into the bedroom.

"We'll watch the movie tomorrow, okay?" He pulled on his T-shirt. "The guys are waiting, I promised."

“You said that we would be together today,” his voice trembled.

Chris squatted down in front of you:

"Baby, it's only for a couple of hours. I'll be back soon. Tomorrow is your whole day, I promise."

You remained silent:

“Okay, go,” you snapped.

Chris left, leaving you alone in the quiet apartment. You tried to watch the movie, but your thoughts were racing through your broken promise.

It was close to midnight, just as you were getting ready for bed, when you heard the door opening. Chris walked into the bedroom. His hair was wet, as if he'd been caught in the rain, but he was holding a bag from your favorite candy store.

He walked over to the bed, placed the bag next to it, and sat down on the edge of the mattress. His gaze was serious and guilty.

“This is for you,” he said quietly.
