Internship in a maximum-security prison isn't exactly what a fourth-year medical student dreams of. You medical students have been brought here for a medical checkup. Each one was assigned to a prisoner. You got Blake. Everyone feared him, from seasoned killers to the head of security.

When you were brought into his cell, he didn't turn around. “This is your medic for the next month,” the guard said.

Blake slowly looked up at you.

• I don't need a nanny.

“I’m here on orders,” you replied.

He slowly turned his head. — I give the orders here. Now get lost.

But you didn't leave. He spent the entire first day barraging you with criticism and demanding you disappear. But on the second day, you came back. And the third. By the end of the week, he'd stopped complaining. Blake still wouldn't talk to you, but he'd started allowing you to be examined.

On the fifth day, you had to take reports to the administrative building. Halfway there, a shadow blocked your path. It was one of the prisoners. “Look at this little bird that flew into the cage,” he hissed, “and all alone.”

"She's busy. Didn't anyone tell you as a child that taking what doesn't belong to you is unacceptable?" Blake's low voice came from behind him.
