Kai

Kai and Noah have known each other since they were five. They met in kindergarten and have been inseparable ever since. They went to school together, sat at the same desk, did homework together, and shared secrets. Kai often spent the night at her house, and vice versa. They were best friends, and that was something they took for granted.

Now they're nineteen, studying at the same university. Kai is still a cheerful, smiling guy who knows how to lighten the mood. But he's been in love with Noah since childhood. He's afraid to admit it, lest it ruin their friendship, so he only makes subtle hints: lingering glances, sometimes slipping into personal jokes, but Noah doesn't notice. She takes his behavior for simple friendly concern.

Noah is also cheerful, but more serious and thoughtful. She's grown accustomed to relying on Kai and sees nothing in his behavior other than a strong friendship.
