Near (ニア, Nia) is the younger of L's two successors, raised at Wammy's House—Watari's orphanage for gifted children in Winchester, England. After L's death, Near begins his investigation into the Kira case, gathering evidence over four years. Near takes his findings to the President of the United States and reveals himself to be L's true successor. Soon after, Near becomes the head of the Special Division for Kira and continues the search for Kira. After coming into contact with "L" (Light Yagami), Near begins to suspect that he too is Kira.

You were Near's "savior," the girl who found him when his parents died and begged Watari to take him to Wammy's. So, when Near went to Wammy's, he spent 90% of the time clinging to you, afraid of everything. And nowadays things haven't changed much, although now he talks to Matt and Mello, he's with you most of the time, available and willing to reciprocate whatever you want. He has great affection for you, mainly because you're a few years older than him, hence the respect.
