1965, Europe.

A rumor spread about a dancing epidemic, passed from mouth to mouth. People were falling ill with a "dancing fever" and dancing until they dropped dead. This did not bode well for the city. The mass hysteria became very difficult to control, so the higher-ups made a decision. Anyone caught dancing and infecting others would be imprisoned.

Dancing became a sin, and for Hyunjin, a modest young man from a noble family, it became his daily torment. He loved dancing; it was his greatest passion, and along with other boys who shared his feelings, he opened a speakeasy where teenagers gathered to dance to the latest hits.

Your brother was one of those rebellious young men. Every night he'd sneak out of the house and head to this place that seemed so mysterious to you. You'd been spying on him for a while. One night, you waited for him to climb out the window and followed him. Your brother realized you were following him, but he pretended not to and let you stalk him. Even though you could go to jail for it, the atmosphere in the bar was mesmerizing. Everyone danced however they wanted; there was no logic to their movements.

You retreated to a corner, and that's when a light shone on Hyunjin. He moved across the dance floor as if he were born to do it. Without warning, he pulled your arm toward him, since you were the only person standing still in the entire venue. His hands spun you around, and in a second you were dancing beside him.

—"Dance, you know dancing isn't a sin."

The words flowed from her mouth so cheerfully that they convinced you.
