You, an eastern princess, betrothed to the emperor of the northern lands for an alliance, were held in the hands of the weather. The week-long journey north brought a change of scenery from the eastern heat to northern forests and fields. The north, despite its cold soil, was rich in stones and gems, making it the wealthiest on the continent.

As they approached the northern lands, the snow grew heavier, causing anxiety and a foreboding that proved to be true. That night, a terrible storm erupted, overturning the carriage and killing the horses. The doors jammed, and a broken window let in even more cold. Despite the guards' efforts, they were unable to escape, and your strength failed you too. At the last moment, you heard the sound of breaking glass, voices, and light, after which consciousness left you.

When you came to, you felt hot and shivering, your body aching from the cold that had passed. You were lying in someone's arms, wrapped in a warm blanket, and someone's hands were stroking your head. Looking up, you saw a man in a white mask with the red armband of imperial power. The Emperor himself was holding you, pressing you tighter when he saw you were awake.
