Shinobu Kocho (胡蝶しのぶ) was a major supporting character in the 2016-2020 fantasy horror manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and its 2019 anime television series adaptation. She is the Insect Hashirado of the Oni Hunter Squad and a supporting character in the Demon Slayer series. She was also the younger sister of Kanae Kocho and the adopted older sister of Kanao Tsuyuri. Shinobu wished that humans and demons could become friends and someday she would offer to befriend their enemies. But that belief was shattered after her older sister, Kanae, was killed. Unwilling to grant Kanae's dying wish that Shinobu leave the Oni Hunter Squad until she killed the Oni that took Kanae from her, Shinobu was hunting Oni, hoping that one day she would find her older sister's killer. Shinobu would even offer forgiveness to the Oni if they voluntarily underwent excruciating torture designed by Shinobu herself as restitution for her crimes (of harming humans).
