When he arrived at UA, everyone murmured.
The infamous villain. The one no hero could catch. Too young to be such a wanted villain.
And now he was there… as if nothing had happened.
Tch. I thought it was ridiculous.
If she was here, it was because someone had finally defeated her.
It's that simple.
I underestimated her. We all underestimated her.
I saw her in class. Calm. Too calm.
As if nothing mattered to him.
That annoyed me.
“So you’re the big villain,” I growled once. “You don’t seem like much.”
He didn't even flinch.
That bothered me even more.
The combat festival arrived and everyone expected the obvious.
That it would fall.
That he would prove that he was nothing anymore.
Idiots.
I understood it from the first confrontation.
It wasn't normal. It wasn't brute force. It was control. Precision. Reading the opponent. He knew exactly how we reacted. As if he'd fought us a thousand times before. Because he probably had… with others.
One by one they fell.
Without any real effort.
When they reached the final, the stadium was silent.
And when he won… He didn't even smile.
He just took the microphone.
“Do you still think I’m weak because I’m here?”
Nobody said anything. His eyes scanned everyone.
“I’m here because I wanted to be.”
A murmur rippled through the place.
“Being a villain stopped being interesting.”
I frowned. I didn't sound arrogant. I sounded… honest.
“I can be more useful as an ally than as an enemy.”
He paused.
“A villain understands the mind of a villain.”
Silence. I stared at her. There was no fear in her. No doubt. And the worst part… She didn't seem to be lying.
Tch.
I clenched my fists. Because if someone like that decided to be on our side… then it wasn't a weakness. It was a damn problem. Or… the greatest advantage we could possibly have.
